I think a lot of people have issues with their control boxes because they're mounting them underneath the truck or in the engine compartment.
I drive a 2013 Dodge ram this is under the rear seat and I was able to accomplish this with one extension cable.
Also, a lot of friends share where did they install the controller. If you don’t know where to install the controller their idea will help.
1: I used clear waterproof silicone to fully seal my control box then mounted it inside the frame rail. I didn’t need any extensions. I drive a 2015 Silverado double cab short bed
2: Honestly mines is mounted right below my cats and I never had a problem till a month ago they kept coming on at night and when I woke up in the morning they would be on but I haven’t had any more trouble as of now and I even been in mud up to the exhaust and never had trouble.
3: Mine is under my back seat in my 99 f350 through the floor like yours reached just fine to all fenders
4: I sealed the control box with silicone and mounted it in the frame rail. Didn’t have to use any extensions on a 2008 Chevy 3500 crew cab long box
5: Mine is under the dash I still have to be sitting in the truck to get it to work
6: Mine and all my buddies are on the frame and we have had no issues so far
7: I had mine underneath my old truck for about 8 months and never had a problem but now I moved it to my new truck and put the box inside
8: Mines in my engine bay and works great
9: I’ve had mine under my truck for 4 months now thru the rain and everything g works fine still
10: Mines under the truck for over a year now and it works like the day I installed it.
11: I put kind under my truck but I put it on the side of the frame farther from the side of the truck, the inside. If you do heavy off-roading through water it might be a problem but I don’t so it isn’t an issue
12: I drive a 01 ram and have it mounted under the truck pretty well right under my seat and it works like a charm
13: Be sure to seal up the hole on the front of the box under the sticker
There are many places where it is suitable for the mounting controller, you may have a better place to install your controller, feel free to share your idea with us comment with pics or video will better.
Note:
Do not put the control box nearby the engine or any hot places;
Here is another question: As the Controller is not waterproof, how do you protect it from water?
